Family Guy has become one of my favorite shows on TV. But what’s better than watching it on TV? Exactly, being able to decide when to watch which episode. That’s why I have put together a list with sites that offer you almost all Family Guy episodes for online streaming. If you know of other good sites, post them in the comments! Enjoy!

Watch the Simpsons online

I found this website which let’s you watch all episodes of the Simpsons. Who doesn’t like the Simpsons, right? Well if you really don’t, there are other shows available as well: Futurama, South Park, Family Guy and one of my favourites, American Dad. I suggest you check it out really soon, because it is destined to be shut down. So enjoy it while you can!

Update: Click here for an even better resource, to watch the Simpsons. The first few seasons seem to be not working right now, but who cares about the really old ones… Btw: The website features plenty of other shows as well, so check it out!

2nd Update: ~~TV Links doesn’t work anymore. Movie Forumz seems to be a good resource.~~ People, if you know of great resources, post them via the comments, please!

World’s smallest shooter only needs 96 kb of disk space!

That’s right! It’s called “.kkrieger” and was developed by German demo group “.theprodukkt”. It was created for a demo competition where only entries with 96 kb were allowed. So how did they do it? Well, needless to say, they were (probably still are) very good programmers, but the biggest reason today’s games are soooo huge, is high resolution textures. The game still uses textures of course, but they were not created in Photoshop or another software and saved as a bitmap. No, the textures are being calculated on demand, that needs a lot less space and still looks pretty good when looked at closely.

The competition has been a while ago (somewhen in 2004), but it’s still amazing, so I had to make a post about it. It’s good to see there are still programmers who care about efficiency and can deliver it, although of course, it was the main target to be met, otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to participate in that contest at all.

It’s reported to be pretty buggy, that’s why it’s still beta and I doubt there were real improvements made since .kkrieger already had won the contest. As I do not have a Windows box with pixel-shader support on hand (my Win XP sub-notebook has only got a shared memory graphics card and .kkrieger even won’t start on it), I am unable to test it out. But there should be enough folks out there who could download it and give it a quick try since you don’t even have to install it, just run the .exe file.

You should meet these minimum requirements to run it:

A 1.5GHz pentium 3 / athlon or faster
512MB of RAM
a GeForce4Ti (or higher) or ATI Radeon8500 (or higher) graphics card supporting pixel shaders 1.3, preferably with 128MB or more of VRAM
some kind of sound hardware
DirectX 9.0b

Calling the helpdesk…

This is just so true: “Foamy the Squirrel” just wrecked his Windows installation. Now he’s calling tech support just to find out it was outsourced to India and they can’t help him no matter how hard they try.

A funny look at the outsourcing trend in IT. I wish some big company executives could see this.

Right, you’re thinkin’ wtf?!?!?! That was my first thought, too. But there are a few guys, who decided to encode all of the matches into an ASCII stream. You can access it easily via telnet. Just type this into your command line (should work with Win, Linux & MacOS X): “telnet ascii-wm.net 2006″

Try it out while the World Cup hasn’t finished.

Sidenote: Those people really need to get a job!

Taking a closer look at designing a website

I found this on the net, hilarious, but oh so true. Don’t you think IE users should switch just to make the lives of many web designers (including me) a lot easier? We’ll see how IE7 handles CSS.
